Flashley is an iPhone app that gives photos you already have new light and a camera’s character. This policy explains what happens to your photos and the little else we handle, in the app and on flashley.com.
The short version: no account, no ads, no tracking, and your photos are deleted from our servers within hours.
Before anything leaves your iPhone
The first time you make a photo, Flashley explains that your photo will be sent to our server and to a third-party AI service, Google’s Gemini API. Nothing is uploaded until you tap Agree and continue.
Before uploading, the app checks on your iPhone, with Apple’s Vision framework, that your photo has a face it can work with. That check never leaves your iPhone.
Your photos
When you make photos, the picture you choose is sent to our servers over an encrypted connection. We use it to make your photos and nothing else:
- AI light looks are made with Google’s paid Gemini API, which creates the new photo. A second Gemini check looks for mistakes like added objects.
- Under Google’s terms for the paid Gemini API, Google doesn’t use this content to improve its products. Google may keep it for up to 55 days to detect abuse of its service, then deletes it.
- Film looks (Y2K Digicam, Disposable and the others) are made by our own code on our servers. They are never sent to Google.
- The photo you uploaded is deleted as soon as your photos are finished, and never kept longer than one hour.
- Your finished photos stay on our servers for 24 hours so the app can download them, then they’re deleted.
- We never use your photos to train AI models, never sell them and never share them beyond the services listed below.
Face checks
To make sure a result still looks like you, our server finds the face in your photo and in each result and compares their measurements. These measurements exist only in memory for that comparison: they are never stored, never logged and never used to identify you, and they are gone when your photos are finished.
What else we handle
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| An app key from Apple App Attest | To know requests come from the real Flashley app | While you use the app |
| Apple DeviceCheck (two yes/no flags Apple keeps per iPhone) | To give each iPhone one free AI preview | Kept by Apple |
| Your subscription status and an anonymous customer ID from RevenueCat | To unlock photos for subscribers and count the weekly photos | While you’re subscribed, then as required for records |
| Photo job records: look, time, number of photos, cost | Weekly limits, refunds for failed photos, stopping abuse | Up to 12 months |
| If you ask Apple for a refund: how long you’ve subscribed, what you’ve bought and been refunded, and whether you used the subscription (never your photos) | Apple asks developers about usage to decide refund requests; RevenueCat answers for us | Sent once per request |
We don’t have accounts, advertising, cross-app tracking or analytics SDKs in the app.
On your iPhone
Your darkroom (finished sets) and, if you turn it on, your remembered photo stay on your iPhone only. You can delete them anytime in Settings with Delete all my photos. When you save photos, Flashley asks only to add to your library; it can’t see anything else in it.
Who helps us
- Google Cloud: servers and temporary storage (United States).
- Google Gemini API: making and checking AI photos.
- RevenueCat and Apple: subscriptions and payments.
- Cloudflare: hosting flashley.com.
This website
flashley.com uses no cookies, no ads and no third-party trackers. It counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn’t use cookies or follow you across sites. Cloudflare may keep standard server logs, like any web host, to keep the site running and secure.
Children
Flashley isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly handle their photos.
Your choices
Everything on our servers deletes itself on the schedule above. You can delete everything on your iPhone in Settings, and cancel your subscription anytime in your Apple Account settings.

Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date above, and we’ll tell you in the app before any change to how your photos are used.
